Focused shockwave

Focused shockwave

Focused shockwave

Focused shockwave is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to simulate healing and reduce pain in musculoskeletal conditions. It differs from radial shockwave by concentrating the energy at a specific focal point allowing for deeper penetration of between 6-12cm and more precise targeting of affected tissues.

Benefits of FOCUSED SHOCKWAVE:

  • Pain reduction

  • Increased blood flow

  • Potential for bone healing (non-unions and stress fractures)

  • Stimulates tissue repair

  • Reduced inflammation

  • Conservative option

Focused Shockwave is commonly used to treat:

  • Deep tissue injuries

  • Chronic teninopathies

  • Stress fractures

  • Bone non-unions

  • Calcifications

  • Joint arthritis

  • Shin splints

  • Bursitis

  • Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Radial shockwave

Radial SHOCKWAVE

Radial Shockwave uses compressed air to drive a projectile against an application which creates a percussive wave which disperses widely and to a depth of about 3-4cm in the affected tissues.

Benefits of Radial Shockwave:

  • Reduces Pain

  • Stimulates Collagen Production

  • Increases Blood Flow

  • Assits in scar tissue breakdown

  • Improves tissue elasticity and ROM

  • Less expensive than Focused Shockwave

EMS & Ultrasound

EMS & Ultrasound

EMS

EMS is Electrical Muscle stimulation. An EMS current is deliver to the affected muscles via electrode pads.

  • Used to assist in stimulating weak and atrophied muscles.

  • Helpful to use post op and also in injuries where atrophy is a contributing issue

  • Home devices available for purchase from the practice

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is non invasive and uses high frequency sound eaves to ease pain, accelerate healing and treat soft tissue injuries. It is especially helpful in the acute phase of an injury.

Therapeutic ultrasound is used to assist in treating acute injuries such as:

  • Ankle sprains

  • Shoulder impingement

  • Tendinitis

  • Acute bursitis
